Project Background

The IFRC GO platform is a digital tool designed by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to bolster humanitarian efforts worldwide. Tailored to serve Red Cross and Red Crescent societies, volunteers, partners, and various stakeholders engaged in disaster response, preparedness, and recovery, the platform offers information spanning preparedness, response, and learning.

It is a centralised hub for information exchange, collaboration, and coordination and empowers actors to swiftly mobilise resources and respond effectively at scale during crises. IFRC GO allows responders to get support from the broader IFRC network, facilitating access to vital resources such as funding, personnel, and any other resource mobilisation.

IFRC GO serves as a conduit for broader humanitarian discourse by pulling data from internal IFRC systems, the IFRC network, and external sources to provide a holistic view of crises, the platform enables informed decision-making and fosters collaboration across the wider humanitarian community.

What We Do

DFS has been the project management and technical developer of IFRC’s GO platform since 2019. Over this period, DFS has consistently enhanced the platform's features, usability, and performance, benefiting National Societies worldwide.

Our approach is rooted in a commitment to technical excellence and collaboration, ensuring that IFRC's GO platform remains a powerful tool for facilitating data-driven decision-making and supporting emergency response efforts worldwide.

How We Do It

Platform Enhancement and Optimisation

At DFS, we have been at the forefront of technical development for IFRC's GO platform since 2019 with our partners at ToggleCorp (part of the DFS GIN community). Our commitment spans continuous improvements and additions of features, usability, and performance, ultimately benefiting National Societies on a global scale. We have made significant enhancements across the board, including supported the refinement of UI components, introducing a range of new features, pages, and forms, and fine-tuning existing functionalities within the RISK, DREF, and PER modules and optimising translations of content into Arabic, French and Spanish, to mention but a few. DFS has also executed a redesign of the GO platform aimed at enhancing system maintenance and improving its overall robustness.

Collaboration with IFRC's Information Management Team

In close collaboration with IFRC's Information Management team, DFS has played a pivotal role in project management, particularly in assisting communications and workflows between partners. We focus on ensuring timelines are met, teams have all the necessary information, and communications standards are adhered to.

Multilingual Digital Wayfinding

DFS implemented a comprehensive digital wayfinding system across multiple languages, introducing specific navigational features, key figure references, and crisis summaries. This initiative not only enhances user experience but also ensures that critical information is accessible to a diverse global audience.

Impact

IFRC GO's impact lies in its ability to strengthen collective response efforts, optimise resource utilisation, and ultimately, alleviate suffering and save lives in disaster-affected communities. The platform facilitates more efficient resource allocation and response efforts during crises. Real-time data and analytics empower decision-makers to make informed choices, leading to targeted interventions and improved outcomes. The platform's transparency and accountability mechanisms ensure that resources are utilised effectively and responses are tailored to meet the needs of affected populations.

By fostering knowledge sharing and learning within the humanitarian community, the GO platform supports preparedness, capacity building and the adaptation of best practices over time.
