Project Background

In response to the intricate humanitarian challenges faced by Sudan, DFS partnered with iMMAP Inc. to provide secondary data review analysis that aims to establish a comprehensive data platform and reportage specific to Sudan within the humanitarian sector. The persisting socio-political dynamics and regional conflicts necessitate a nuanced understanding of the evolving landscape to effectively address the needs of affected populations. Our primary goal is to compile and integrate diverse data relevant to the humanitarian situation in Sudan, encompassing aspects such as displacement, health indicators, education, and other critical factors. With this analysis, the data will elevate the collective understanding of the humanitarian landscape in Sudan. This initiative is geared towards fostering collaboration and facilitating informed decision-making among individuals and organizations.

What We Do

DFS specialises in delivering high-quality and collaborative humanitarian data analysis, particularly in the context of the ongoing conflict in Sudan. Our data analysts excel in deciphering complex datasets, extracting invaluable insights that serve as a foundation for informed decision-making amidst the intricate challenges posed. Our reports contribute to empowering locally-led initiatives and facilitating principled humanitarian actions that are tailored to address the specific needs arising from the complex socio-political dynamics and conflicts within Sudan on an operational level.

By providing comprehensive and timely data analysis, DFS offers humanitarian organisations a pivotal role in facilitating effective humanitarian interventions, ultimately contributing to alleviating the impact of the conflict and supporting the well-being of affected populations.

How We Do It

Conducting Timely and Comprehensive Situational Analysis

Situational analyses are conducted and built to provide insights into the evolving dynamics of the conflict in Sudan. Our team meticulously examines data from various sources, aiming to offer comprehensive insights into the humanitarian situation. With proficient skills in both qualitative and quantitative data analysis, coupled with our deep understanding of the complexities of humanitarian crises, our reports are of high quality.

Utilising the DEEP Platform for Data Management

The DEEP platform is utilised to curate and maintain a database of secondary data related to the Sudan conflict. This database serves as a valuable resource for the humanitarian community, facilitating informed decision-making. We prioritise transparency by ensuring that our datasets are openly accessible to the public. The DEEP platform enables us to analyse data across various humanitarian clusters, exploring durable solutions to transition out of the crisis.

Adaptable Analysis Products for Addressing Key Issues

In addition to routine situational analyses, we develop tailored analysis products to address specific and relevant issues such as the data landscape, thematic reports on shelter, and other applicable analyses. These analyses allow humanitarian organisations to make informed decisions about where is the most need.

Impact

Compared to other humanitarian situations, Sudan is complex with a lack of data readily available. Even with these challenges, DFS has produced multiple situational analyses, information landscape reports, and thematic reports that have been able to provide humanitarian organisations and donors with data to support decision making processes and information management. Organisations and donors can use the data insights, summaries of key findings, current trends, and humanitarian needs to drive the most efficient and effective humanitarian operations on the ground.  Our team and robust methodology allows us to provide rapid publications of analysis products and rely on a comprehensive set of multi-sourced data.
